Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform diesel engine diagnostics and repairs or rebuilds.
- Perform mechanical systems diagnostics and repairs.
- Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further repairs are needed or recommended.
- Road test when required.
- Document in detail, work performed on repairs.
- Participate in service and training programs for the development of skills and knowledge.
- Maintain condition of company inventory, tools, and equipment
- Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
- Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Report any safety issues immediately to a supervisor.
Experience:
- Experienced in diesel engine repair/rebuilds.
- Experienced in mechanical systems repair.
- Ability to perform repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment.
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in on and off highway equipment.
- Basic computer functions
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- CDL preferred, but not required.

The Service Manager will lead the shop and service departments, work side by side with the technicians and ensure customer satisfaction and profitability of the company.
Responsibilities:
- Develop realistic and accurate budget goals and strive to meet them.
- Contribute to the achievement of goals and objectives in the shop with teamwork.
- Stay attuned to work and activities in the shop at all times.
- Establish, develop and maintain business relationships with current customers and prospective future customers.
- Schedule service work for efficient and productive work outcomes.
- Estimate, schedule, including order parts and invoice repairs in a knowledgeable manner. Document accurate description of customer complaints and up-sell when appropriate.
- Update customers on repair status.
- Respond to telephone and in-person inquiries in a professional manner.
- Understand compliance with warranty work.
- Interact with vendor representatives.
- Maintain proper care and inventory of special tools.
- Monitor daily productivity and manage workflow among technicians.
- Handle customer complaints immediately and professionally.
- Keep abreast of new technology and tools and recommend purchases.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with vocational and technical schools to enhance personnel recruitment.
- Work in a cooperative manner with the team and superiors.
- Perform work on trucks from time to time and assist mechanics.
- Proactively seek and participate in available training to advance skill set and knowledge base.
- Analyze the needs and establish development training for the whole team.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- 2-year technical degree or equivalent years experience required
- 5+ years of diesel equipment knowledge
- 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Ability to build a strong team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills required.
- Able to problem solve and think creatively in an efficient manner.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Must have the following personal attributes: planning, organization, customer focus, problem solving, even temperament, leadership, strong written and verbal communication skills.
